The initial construction and subsequent widening of the Downtown Connector over the decades has displaced thriving Black homes and small businesses in Atlanta neighborhoods near the Stitch including Buttermilk Bottom, Sweet Auburn, and Old Fourth Ward. We understand the legacy impacts infrastructure has and want to ensure our process today is thoughtful and accountable. While the Stitch can’t undo the damage caused by the Interstate and Urban Renewal, we are committed to delivering project benefits for underserved, overburdened, and underinvested people and places.
